Our Curriculum - National Curriculum Subjects
At Elton, we use progression of knowledge and skills grids in each subject to ensure that our expectations are at least in line with national expectations (please see the links to individual subjects). These form the "bones" or "skeleton" of each term's overarching Big Question. The choice of concepts and topics under the Big Question umbrella ensure that there is breadth of study throughout each key stage, and that knowledge and skills are developed over time.
For some subjects we use a scheme of work. This is mainly, but not exclusively, where subjects are more dependent on incremental acquisition of specific skills (eg computing) or when learning needs to be more age-appropriate (eg RSE)
